You remember the “Bank for Native Missionaries” I created? You remember reading about it at least. You remember that every month we were putting together some little money to send to Gospel For Asia so they could help our brothers and sisters in Asia who struggle to bring the gospel of Jesus to their countrymen? I haven’t wrote about the bank for a long while now simply because there was no money to send. To be honest, I had lost hope that people would give money.

Just a few days ago, I got an email from a friend. She told me she had some money for the Bank for Native Missionaries, she was going to send me 108. I was really surprised. I had no idea my friend kept putting change in her little bank to help the native missionaries of Asia. She counted all her change to find 108$. I thought she had forgotten a comma somewhere, she she didn’t.

I was greatly encouraged and impressed to see that simply putting change in a little container for a few months can be a treasure for native missionaries. So this is what my friend’s money purchased:

For a Dalit family (Dalits are the lowest caste of India’s society): a PAIR OF PIGS (60$)

For native missonaries : THIRTY SIX NEW TESTAMENTS (45$)

For native missionaries: 300 GOSPEL TRACKS (3$)

The Dalit family will be able to use the pigs for food and for producing more pigs. The native missionaries will use the NT and gospel tracks to distribute to people.

It’s amazing how much we can bring to those in need, just by simply putting aside some change, putting coffee money in a pot instead of in the coffee machine and etc. Thank you friend for not forgetting your brothers and sisters “out there”.

If you want to help you can send your money right to Gospel For Asia or to me so we put it all together and make bigger gifts out of our little change.

This is just a little entry to make a … « billan » of the Bank for Native Missionaries of 2006. It has been a full year now that people have been giving a few bucks here and there and sometimes bigger amounts, to the Bank for Native Missionaries. I thank you all for trusting me with the money you gave, you can be sure it all went to Gospel For Asia and it was used for our brothers and sisters in South Asia who are struggling to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to unreached areas. Your money was used to purchase (or was given toward buying) the following items:

Kerosene Lantern (29$) / VBS Child Packets (17$) / Bicycle (20$) / Jesus Well (63.20$) / Winter Clothing (83.61$)

In total we have given 212.81$ overseas! I think it is great! Is there a reason to stop gathering our bucks? NO! It does not seem a lot of money we have in the Bank every month, but it does come to a bigger amount when we look behind. Thank you to all who gave and may we be found giving even more in 2007.

Just a little post to encourage you about sharing.

As you know each month through this blog I “reap” money from people who care to give to Native Missionaries, and I am sending 50$ for November in a few days, to Gospel for Asia, it’ll serve to buy winter clothing to missionaries in South Asia who cannot afford it. If you read the comments that people leave on this blog, you might have read what my dad wrote.

His church is raising money for a well. A well costs about 1200$ to dig and everything in countries like India. So I thought that this month, whatever money we will raise, it’ll go to my dad’s church found raising for a well. And this is done through Gospel For Asia as well so, no worries about if the money is properly used!

I encourage you to share, I know it’s Christmas season and we’re all speding money on our family and friends, which is good, but let us remeber those who don’t even have water in their village, and the good opportunity it will be for Christians to be witnesses of Jesus love as a verse is usually written on the well, and as it is usually dug close to a church. Please let me know if you’d like to participate by giving 2, 5, 10$, whatever you want. Thanks.

So the other day I got a little magazine from Gospel For Asia the introduction was saying that this was a special magazine for Christmas, to send special gifts to native missionaries in South Asia. I though right away thatit would be special things like… I don’t know. Things for the native missionaries themselves, just as we get presents for ourselves for Christmas. But I was “gladly surprised” to see that it was not the case. The things that we could buy for our brothers and sisters in the East, were the very things that we can get them all year round, like Gospel tracks, Bibles to distribute, bicycles, winter clothing, lanterns, to help them carry the Gospel further… all these thing we could get them for Christmas, were not really for themselves, but things that would furter God’s cause in South Asia. I was surprised, because it seemed different from anything else, but I knew it was something GFA would do, because it’s all about God’s Kingdom and the salvation of the unreached, not about those native missionaries.

I think this difers so much from my own view of life. It’s Christmas, so I get things for the joyof people I love, which is fine. And I get presents from people who love me and it’s all about me, it’s for my own joy, my own use. These native missonaries don’t get special treats for Christmas, they get more gospel tracts and the like to preach Jesus as only Savior, that is their joy: to see people freed from the power of Satan.

So anyways, there was somthing special though. There was a new section where they presented gifts you could make to families for Christmas, gifts like chickens, rabbits, buffalos, cows, pigs, etc. These gifts of animals would not be like giving a dog to a kid for Christmas here in Canada. These animal that cannot be afforded by most, can provide food and income to families. So I bought a pair of pigs for people I probably will meet only in heaven. I believe it’s neat that we have little opportunities like that to give and I thank Go for Gospel For Asia who seek, at all times, to further the Kingdom of God.

So far we’ve got 50$ this month for native missionaries and it’ll go out to South Asia so that they can buy winter clothing for those missionaries who freeze in the mountains, bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unloved and unreached people. If you live in Québec you probably noticed the red and orange and yellow leaves floating in the wind and that are everywhere on the ground. If you live in Saskatchewan, you probably noticed the yellow leaves too… if you’re from anywhere else in Canada, I am sure you’ve been feeling that summer is away and… winter is ahead. Just walking to university today, I was a bit cold and wondered why I wasn’t wearing warmer clothing. I’ll be getting my scarf and mits out pretty soon. This change of seasons and the temperature getting colder does not happen only in Canada my friend. I am not saying you are dumb, I just want you to think about something… CLICK HERE

Gospel for Asia

“How cold does it get where you live? How hot? How do you dress for the extremes? Now think for a minute about
India.If you want to experience extremes, I could take you to the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, where temperatures can exceed 45 degree Celsius. Or we could visit the high mountains of
Sikkim, where winter temperatures can be 40 degrees below zero! And in either place, we would find Gospel for
Asia native missionaries going out daily to share the love of Jesus with those who have never heard His name. But believe me, in addition to the persecution and rejection they often face, these courageous men and women also persevere in situations like the harsh
Sikkim winters.(…)

‘We get snow all around us during winter,’ Arhyam, a GFA leader in
Sikkim, says. (…) He explains that even where people have electricity, they often gather around a fire because they don’t have the proper wiring for an electric heater. And even if they did, Arhyam says, they cannot afford the extra electricity.‘Still, you have to get up in the morning,’ he adds. ‘But people get sick here due to extreme cold, especially the women. Arthristis, backaches, stomach problems, and headaches are common problems we face during extreme cold.’

The solution for Arhyam and other missionaries in the Himalayan region of
Asia is to have adequate, warm clothing for the brutal winters. ‘If we don’t have warm cloths it becomes really hard to walk around,’ Arhyam says. ‘Sometimes, we cannot afford them.’

The problem is that winter clothing is much more expensive in remote areas lie northern Sikkim than in others parts o
India. A sweater can cost 800 rupees (19$) and a warm jacket can be more than 1000 rupees (24$). And while these may seem modest prices in
Canada, they put great stress on a missionary’s budget. That’s why Gospel for
Asia provides a winter clothing packet for missionaries like Arhyam through a special offering – and that’s why I would like to ask you to help provide one of these packets for one of our missionaries today. We can provide this packet for only 40$, and it may include a blanket, sweater, socks, warm trousers and shirts for men, skirts and shawls for women, and even hiking boots, depending on the need.(…)” September is almost over. As I am sending to Gospel for Asia the money we’ve got in the Bank for Native Missionaries in a few days, and as there is no more money in our bank, please think of those missionaries who need warm clothing and give your 2 or 3$ for this Bank. It’ll be faithfully sent to GFA at the end of October 2006.

Just a little update about our Bank for Native Missionaries we’re at 19.61$ now for this month! Mister D owed me some money and ended up giving me too much (11.36$)… so I told him I’d give him the money back, but Miss C said I should keep it for the Native Missionaries. We all agreed.
