There is a Redeemer
THERE IS A REDEEMER
(by Melody & Keith Green )
There is a Redeemer – Jesus God’s own Son
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah – Holy One
Jesus my Redeemer, Name above all names
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah – Holy One
Thank you Oh my Father – For giving us your Son
And leaving your Spirit till – The work on earth is done
When I stand in glory – I will see His face
There I’ll serve my King forever – In that Holy Place
Thank you Oh my Father – For giving us your Son
And leaving your Spirit till – The work on earth is done
I really enjoyed last week’s worship time at church, especially this song. I think it’s sort of an old song, but I don’t know since I’m not an “Anglo”, I mean, a native speaker of English and did not grow up in an English-speaking church. It’s neat how old hymns are still sung today and are still so meaningful, much more than a lot of contemporary Christian songs. I guess it’s because the salvation that Christ offered to these people who wrote hymns years and years ago, is still the same that is offered today, Christ has not changed and remains the same. I like songs that have glorious endings like this one. That speak of the day when we’ll be in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Pray for me. Life goes to fast and I wish I could slow down. Unfortunately I don’t get a termbreak this semester while the rest of university students have a one-week recess, I’ll be doing my internship in a school. So this does not help to keep my sanity.

Youth Group
I went home for the weekend. My homechurch needed a guitar player for their first youth meeting on Saturday night. I prepared some songs and wrote them down in a little booklet so they’d be able to choose what they want to sing without having to choose among 300 songs. We met Saturday night around 7 :30 and we were 8 people. You see my homechurch is small, but growing. The youth group is really small and nobody was really ‘in charge’ for years and years. Now they have a good leader I think. He’s barely starting this good work and doesn’t know much about youth ministry, but he has the right motivation and the heart to do it. So this guy, Joseph, asked me last week if I could come and play the guitar. I went. I really enjoyed the youth meeting. I was sort of trying to start a youth at my homechurch three years ago, they were not really a ‘group’ of kids, they were kids going to church, not doing anything together inside or outside the church walls. At the time I struggled a lot with frustrations because they didn’t seem to be growing or desiring to grow spiritually. But three years later, I was amazed at what I heard from those kids. You’re right they matured, they’re older now. But still, I was encouraged. Each one talked about what they had learned during the summer and most of them were working in a Christian camp. One of them was not even a believer when I was there three years ago, but now she had finished a year at bible school. Anyways, I was blessed even though these kids obviously need to become more like Jesus – in tangible ways.
This is a very small youth group and its leader believes he needs help since he’s starting in that ministry. He asked me if i’d consider supporting the leadership of this little group through different things, you know I really want to do it. I live in Montréal, which is an hour away from Valleyfield (homechurch) and to go there every Saturday when I don’t have a car could get complicated and annoying for others giving me rides. But I believe this is a good work and it would be a privilege to support and encourage these leaders and kids. It wouldn’t be a sacrifice even when I wouldn’t feel like spending my weekend at home, again. You see, it is just a blessing to keep on persevering and praying and doing what God calls us to do. Three years ago I did not see one fruit. I moved to Saskatchewan and not a month later, half the youth group had come to know Christ personaly in various camps, on the same weekend. Fruit from my prayers? Partly I guess. Now things are still changing and for the best. We must keep on believing, even when it seems foolish because God… God He does as he pleases. And He loves listening to the prayers of the righteous. So this I tell you, keep the faith, persevere today.
