Monthly Archives: August 2007

After more than a month of moving and painting and etc. my roomies and I are finally opening our home to family and friends. It is not that nobody was allowed in before, but it’s simply that we want people to come over tomorrow, Sunday the 5th of August for some relax time and see the apartment. If you’re around and would like to pass by, just drop an email, call us, leave a comment… I know it’s tomorrow but oh well.

So yes, my room is painted and I’ve been putting things up on my walls and it feels like my room finally. All the bedrooms I’ve had all look sort of the same to a certain extent. The same style. So you won’t be surprised if you come and realize that my room is… well, Gabrielle’s room. I’ve got millions of books on top of my desk and the milk crates that are acting as shelves are way to packed. I’m looking for shelves or something that could hold my books and etc. I don’t actually know when my room will finally be done. We’ll see.

I was planning on checking out a new church tomorrow, but I was told today (a day in advance) that we had a mendatory meeting at work at 9am. The store opens at 10 so the meeting will last an hour, I thought that I could still make it to church, well a different church that starts at 10:30 (the new church starts at 10), but then I was told that I had been selected to be part of the “Halloween Team” so I’ll have to stay at work until 10:30. Very fun. I’m being sarcastic here. Well, I believe it’s kind of fun that I’ll be doing something different and new, I was told that Halloween was the biggest event of the year at VV (the store). So anyways, I won’t get to check out a new church, nor will I get to go to church at all tomorrow. Je suis une paienne! (I am a pagan!).

What else is happening tomorrow? Hopefully, lots of joy and grace for you and me.

Here is a picture of my two sisters. I know they look pretty hot here, but I’m sorry, they’re both married women.

Is this the proper spelling for the word? But you all know what I mean eh?

Today was Tuesday, which means that “golden age” folks got 30% off their purchase. Tuesday is always the busiest day of the week. So I’m working, in my little bubble and I hear over the music, my name: “Gabrielle au comptoir à bijoux” (Gabrielle to the jewel counter). There is always this old man with very short, white hair who wears a magnifying glass around his neck (just a little bigger than his eye) and who’s got dirty nails who comes every Tuesday. He comes to VV (the store) just for the wrist watches. He is always looking for old watches that don’t work with batteries. So here he is again, hoping to find something old. I like watching him and listening as he vents out his frustration about the fact that we have so little old watches. He talks to me about his son and how he hopes he’ll make big money with the old watches he buys for him. I ask him questions about the watches and how he knows by simply looking at them if they work or not with batteries. He finds nice looking watches and tells me they’d be nice on me. Then I show him my digital, big, black watch and I wonder what he thinks.

But anyways, when he was done looking through all the watches, he took out two bucks from his pocket and gave them to me, telling me “This is for you, buy yourself a coffee”. It was the first time a customer gave me tip and I wondered what I should do. Well, I kept it. I felt somehow special. Just by being nice and be interested in this old man’s little life, it made him want to give me something in return. It’s not that I care about money, but I’m happy he felt that way.

When I got home I put the two bucks into my little bank for Native Missionaries. I feel it is a privilege to give for God’s Kingdom, even when it is as little as two bucks.
